Blue Tits.

Throughout the weekend and into Monday our pair of Blue Tits were continuing to collect tit bits to feed their youngsters in the nest box but still no evidence of any little faces appearing at the entrance.

As in previous days the adults made forays to the other end of the garden to top up their reserves at one of the fat feeders close to the house.

However while I was watching our adults around the nest site in the Birch at the bottom of the garden returning with a very tiny grub a totally different adult appeared close to the house together with five recently fledged juveniles.

This youngster certainly doesn't seem very happy! I'll share some more images of these juveniles in a future post.

I checked the nest box around 8am this morning and later today after we returned home BUT there were no obvious sounds from the youngsters in the box and no sightings of the adults so at the moment I'm not sure if the nest has been abandoned or maybe they all departed well before I was awake today!   FAB.

  5. They depart so very quickly. I have only once seen the fledglings leaving the box....around five years ago. We had Blue Tits nesting in an old water pump on the patio this year, I have seen the parents around the garden feeding the fledglings :)
