The first of my offerings for Good Fences was taken in Verona, Italy and surrounds the very fine stone caved sarcophagi of the Scala family's tombs. The ladder symbol being the Scala family's crest.
The second, less austere, offering was also taken during our recent holiday but from one of our countryside walks between Garda and Bardolino.
A much more simple fence that is not a barrier to nature.
Linking to Good Fences.
What a lovely offering for Good Fences today Frank. The first one is quite spectacular, the second a more simpler fence but still very beautiful with it's bright red poppies. Great shots!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful ornate fence and love the simplicity of the last.
ReplyDeletethe first is impressive! wow! but my heart goes to the second! for certain!
ReplyDeletethanks for linking up, frank! love to have you join!!!
Very pretty, Frank!
ReplyDeleteQuite the contrast between fences but both beautiful in their own ways!

Wow, that's some tomb! I love the ornate details of the second fence. Beautiful poppies in the field.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmmmm, both beautiful...the ornate has my vote, but hey...the simple is good too!!
ReplyDeleteYou do like extremes don't you? These are marvelous examples of the range of what a fence can be. The first is quite ornate and an interesting history goes with it. The second is easily over shadowed by the beautiful poppies, and yet it still serves it's purpost. Lovely post, Frank.

I like all, but the simple fences shots really, really appeal to me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing a part of Italy. I've never seen such grand fences with statues!
ReplyDeleteThat is some fancy fencing and scrollwork in the first photo. I do love the Red Poppies against the simple barbed wire fence.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful detail on the iron fence. My husband and I got lost in Verona once. A gorgeous place to be lost in though. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Everyone,
ReplyDeleteI'm delighted that you all enjoyed the contrast between these fences. I'll admit that my choice will always be the simple style.
Cheers .... FAB.
I love the ornate fence for its beauty and the second fence for its simplicity. Cool post.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fences and wonderful poppies - everything is just wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLove the Poppies and fences best
