Swallowtail on La Rocca di Garda.
I have never been fortunate to to watch this species before so after seeing them flying around on the top of La Rocca I took the opportunity to take a lot of images as soon as I spotted them resting on the ground.
I guess it could be some time before I see another Swallowtail. FAB.

Great bug! It just shows that you are still a month ahead of us.
ReplyDeleteCheers Steve. Found a few more species on the wing today but rain forecast from Tuesday onwards won't help them.
DeleteThey are lovely butterflies. I got to see them every summer in the US and they were always a thrill; I can imagine how much fun it must be for you to see them for the first time.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos never got close to one to photograph yet great stuff.
ReplyDeleteThat's one special 'tick' Frank, a beautiful butterfly to see.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, one day, I'll be lucky enough to get a 'tick' too?...[;o)
Thanks Trevor. You are closer to their UK habitat in Norfolk so it shouldn't take you long to catch up with one or two!
DeleteWilma. You were very fortunate to see them every Summer. I was tickled pink!
ReplyDeleteThanks Anthony. Appreciate your visit.
Love your banner photo!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Katheryn. The Little Grebe is our smallest grebe and a delight to watch with its powder-puff rear.
