For many years the nest box on the back of the shed has been used exclusively by Blue Tits (Parus caeruleus) but over the last two weeks the activity by a pair of Great Tits (Parus major) led us to believe they may be nesting. During brief breaks from gardening today I was able to get these few shots.
Great news Frank. You must keep us updated on their progress.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see babies!!! Great shots!!
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic images, Frank.
ReplyDeleteExciting! I hope their babies fledge successfully! (These little birds must be crazy cute as babies.)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant Frank. At my folk's place, Great and Blue tit's alternate years in the nest box aswell. Very interesting.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! Can't wait to hear what they have there. :c)
ReplyDeleteGreat news, fingers crossed for a happy outcome.
ReplyDeleteI hope they have a successful go at it. They are beautiful birds - I love that little bit of dusky blue on the wings, and the black stripe down the belly. The tits remind me of our Chickadees.
ReplyDeleteHi Frank,
ReplyDeleteI think there are no doubt that they are feeding chicks there!!! Cool, let us know the evolution of the family!!! Maybe a week report ;-)
Great! btw it always amazes me how many birds come around when I am gardening but NOT when I am walking quietly through the garden with my camera!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos. I hope you get some of the babies too!
ReplyDeleteHi 'Earlybirders'.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your continued interest & the nice comments. Much appreciated.
Well the feeding frenzie continues & late pm today Anita confirms that she has 'heard' young in the nest box. My only concern is that our neighbours plan to replace the broken fence nearby so let's hope it can be completed without any unecessary disturbance. I will keep you posted with progress.
It is always wonderful when they choose our birdhouses, even if it isn't the bird we are expecting.

Leedra, I agree. It was just a surprise to see Great Tit instead of it's smaller cousin Blue Tit.
