Waders in Pagham Harbour.

Last week I made a visit to the coast and wandered around a small part of Pagham Harbour between The Spit and the North Wall for a couple of hours. With high tide some hours away the only species that really came close enough for a photo was one of many singing Greenfinches. Most of the waders were distant views through the bins but it didn't stop me trying .... so here are a few cropped images.

Oystercatcher

Spotted Redshank

At least the stationery and over flying Gulls made things a little easier.

I even attempted to slowly creep closer to a group of preening Black-tailed Godwits, all resplendant in their breeding plumage but just as I settled down they decided  it was time to move on before I had time to change the camera settings!
Oh well ... better luck next time.   FAB.

  4. Liking the greenfinch, unusual striped markings on the gull's head. You almost got it for the Godwits; would've been a great opportunity too.

  5. Nice to see the Spotted Redshank, a mega rarity on our patch! On my visit to Pagham earlier in the year the waders were distant too!

  6. A very nice walk along the shore and it looks lovely and peaceful Frank...could have not asked for much more and the birds may be far off, yet they are delightful. Those silly Black tailed Godwits, they just had no idea that their portraits were about to be taken, yet the flight image is wonderful~

  12. Waders always manage to do exactly what you don't want them to. Nice shots nevertheless.

Delighted you enjoyed my trip to the coast and obviously the 'Blackwits' stole the show. Next time I'll have to be more sneaky with my approach!
