The neighborhood magpies here are nowhere near as accomodating as this one! They are very suspicious of cameras even from a distance.

Beautiful shots Frank... I've not be taking any pictures of this bird for a while now, and I might try it again this summer ;-)
We used to see magpies in Eastern Washington and Eastern Oregon (not the part where we lived)...they were pretty similar to yours. Beautiful birds, but raucous -- worse than crows even.
