Konik Horses at Oare Marshes

As promised and especially for Kallen, Kelly & Jan here are more images of the Konik Horses that are used as a 'natural' method to manage a number of Nature Reserves throughout the UK.

  6. They really are such lovely horses. The RSPB reserve at Minsmere also have some and I've seen them there, but didn't know they were at Oare Marshes too. Wonderful!

  13. Thanks Kelly. Unplanned change but the picture seemed appropriate to herald that Spring is on its way. In the last week bird song has increased dramatically & now we wait for our early migrants to arrive.

  15. What beautiful ponies. They remind me of the Connemara ponies that I've trained from Ireland. I wonder if they are long lost cousins.

  16. Hi Rachel. The Konik originates from Poland and many display the characteristics and primative markings of the extinct Tarpan; the dun coat and dorsal stripe.
