Blue Tit Nesting Update.

The weather hasn't been kind enough for the last few days so I found a few images from the very recent archives of our daily garden visitor ..... the Blue Tit.

"I wonder what's going on over there?"

It would appear that the nest box on the rear of the tool shed has been abandoned ...... the nest looks almost complete but we have a sneaking suspicion that a local cat has been paying them too much attention during the settling in process! However a few days ago while enjoying a brief period of sunshine I spotted the pair of Blue Tits checking out another nest box higher up in the Birch tree at the bottom of the garden .... the male entered with some nesting material but after a chirpy exchange of calls from his partner they promptly departed. With the continued inclement weather it has not been possible to monitor any comings and goings from the house but if I get any positive proof  in the coming days I certainly let you know.   FAB.

  7. Lovely shots Frank.
Hope they find somewhere to nest soon.

The last 2 years I've had Blue Tits nesting in one of my boxes. This year, they started the usual investigations; when I returned from Wales, nothing. Local cats. I'm surrounded by the blighters!

  8. I placed a box in my garden a year ago in sight of my kitchen window... a few minutes later I saw a Blue Tit checking it out... then nothing.

  11. What beautiful photos, Frank. We keep finding Blue Tits pecking at their reflections on our car wing mirrors... what's that about?

  12. Theresa ... so do I.

Mona ... Time to get the water pistol out!

Yes Mike, similar conditions around my local patch.

    Thank you Ana.

Hi John. It's a common problem that keeps us on our toes.

    Cheers Bob.

I know how you feel Keith. I would offer some suggestion but they are probably not printable!

Andrew ... Sometimes it takes a while but if they don't use it then I would suggest moving it to another location, if that's possible.

Thanks Steve ... my fingers are still crossed.

Thanks Jerry ... only time will tell.

The Gardening Shoe. Many thanks for your visit. I have seen a number of species doing just that. I guess they are reacting to the reflection as a posible threat.
