Alert Does.

All images taken during a short stroll through Richmond Park today.

A small group of Red Deer does with their ears pricked and watching for any intruders. (A fairly distant shot suitably cropped)
A few moments later I detected movement behind me and saw an 'unleashed' dog running into the ferny undergrowth disturbing a few Fallow does who emerged from their hiding place and promptly pranced away to safety. (Chance shot taken on the wrong settings!)

As I quietly followed an overgrown pathway leading deep into the shoulder high bracken the head of a Red doe popped up to inspect me before slowly disappearing into the lush vegetation.

Wishing everyone, wherever you are, a glorious wildlife watching weekend.  FAB.

  6. Great shots Frank.

A shame some irresponsible dog owners let their animals be a nuisance in some areas.

  7. Three lovely shots Frank. Sadly, keeping watch for errant dogs must be part of their daily routine? Although, I guess, they'll have a lot more to keep them 'alert' in a few weeks time?...[;o)

  9. Delightful images of the deers and Doe. I like the shot of the startled deers, even though it was on the wrong setting it's full of movement and the deers are not too distorted. In fact it's a beautiful shot!:)

  10. Just came back to thank you for getting back to me, and your suggestions. I really appreciate
your help Frank. I have several books on inscects but they were no help at all, and I could not ID it on Google.
    Warm Regards.

  18. I've been seeing lots of watchful stares in my yard lately too since the apples are falling. The deer seem bolder than ever this year, not bothering to run off when they see me but still cautious. Your surprise shots still have sharp focus, very nice.
