The Seed Scatterer.

It is very rare for me to be able to get close to a Magpie (Pica pica) but during a visit to a location that I had not visited for many, many years, the activity of this individual intrigued me as it decided to scatter all the seed rather than eat any!

I hope to catch up with everyone in the next few days when I'll also post a local patch update plus some other recent outings  ...... FAB.

  1. my guess there was maybe something more attractive buried in the top of that post, perhaps to the magpie's thinking at least. Like a big juicy grub?

  4. A great capture of the Magpie, Frank! They can be very entertaining to watch and quite enjoy dismantling my ancient apple tree to furnish their homes...hmm

Love the Meadow Pipit on the previous post too :-)

  5. Nice pic Frank. I love magpies and would see them often when I lived out west but we don't get them here on the east coast!

  6. Wasteful little Magpie!!!!! Our birds seem to drop/scatter the seed from the feeders here also.. BUT--there are always some little birds under the feeders to eat up what has been scattered!!!!!! OR---the squirrels and chipmunks will get the scattered seed... ha ha

    Great picture.
