Nuthatch.

Something from the recent archives to keep the bird photography content ticking over .....
(Eurasian) Nuthatch (Sitta europaea).

In Britain our resident birds (ssp. caesia) have a warm rusty-buff breast and belly. Whilst the sexes are very similar the vent on the males is usually a much darker red-brown.

All images were shot at Warnham Nature Reserve using the EF 70-300mm lens.   FAB.

  4. This nuthatch looks very much like our Red Breasted nuthatch. It appears to have the same behavior.
Interesting because we tend to think our birds do not have relations on other continents.

  5. Чудові фото пташок!
Я завжди дивуюся, скільки терпіння потрібно, щоб зробити таке гарне фото! Пташки такі активні і непосидючі!)))

  19. Love nuthatches! I have a very old birdbook that offers an alternative name of "treemouse", fits pretty well, I think.
Your guy looks a lot like the red-breasted nuthatches that are on my feeder.

  20. Hi again, Frank. Now, this is a bird I’d love to see in my garden but unfortunately it isn’t likely based on distribution - but it is making its way closer I do believe. Hope the weather is kind to you this week :-)

  28. Hi there - I miss these birds - I used to have them in my garden in south Cumbria. Great shots.

I thought I’d let you know that I stepped into the void caused by Springmans decision to close down World Bird Wednesday by setting up Wild Bird Wednesday (!) on my photoblog at Paying Ready Attention – Photo Gallery.

Feel free to visit and link.

Nie wiem czy poprawnie napisałem :) Ten ptaszek w moim kraju nazywany jest kowalikiem. Jest mało płochliwy i przyjemnie się go obserwuję :)
