Greedy Parakeets.

A fairly quiet weekend here apart from the constant need to top up the peanut feeder!

A small number of Rose-ringed Parakeets (Psittacula krameri) have taken a particular liking to all the feeders in the garden and are cleaning out this one on a daly basis .. greedy b*****s!  FAB.

  5. Amazing how much they can eat! I'm in the same boat with the Orioles in my backyard. Gotta go buy some more oranges and grape jelly tomorrow!

  6. Haha! How can you say no to that cute face. It always amazes me that you have parakeets flying free!

  8. I know they are considered a nuisance in some areas, but I do wish they paid an occasional visit here – Tim

  9. Careful Frank, they may hear you and start to repeat it.

  10. I would sort of like to see them here but sort of not as everyone says how greedy they are, I have enough trouble with Wood Pigeons which are very clever at finding ways of feeding from even the tiniest seed feeders ;)

Anyway, the photos are lovely Frank as were the ones of the Blue Tit on the previous post!

  11. Hi Frank

Gorgeous captures but you are welcome to them.
My son lives in London and they are frequent visitors to his garden. They are greedy feeders, also extremely noisy when in large numbers.....

  12. At least they are good to look at while they eat you out of house and home.

  13. Very sharp images of these birds. They are getting closer to where I live and whilst I like to see them they are very noisy and greedy and don't fancy being woken up by them.

  14. I used to see them often in Cheshire but nothing since about 2001.
Still hear reports about the odd bird though.

  15. Hi Everyone. As expected the introduced (by fair or foul means!) Ring-necked Parakeet always stirs up different emotions. Love them or hate them they certainly add some exotic colour to the urban surroundings. FAB.

  17. Hi Betsy. I live in the south-east UK where this introduced exotic species has a specific stronghold.

Hi Jan. I know how you feel ... Woodpigeons are also starting to oust out the Collared Dove around here without the added attentions of the 'green machine'!

Mike. Watch out ... you are not too far away!!

Tim, Keith, Anthony and Andrew. I'm sure at some stage they will make a local appearance.
